New Tutorial -
Getting the Free Bing Maps Key
In our last newsletter we described the steps for
getting either a free Bing Maps key from Microsoft, or an enterprise
key for purchase from OnTerra Systems, a Microsoft reseller.
Bing Maps keys are required when using the CDXZipStream
functions CDXRouteBing and CDXLocateBing, which perform driving and
route calculations, geocode and reverse geocode, verify address data
and look up postal codes.
Fortunately it's very easy to create a free key from
the Microsoft website. In response to the many questions we
receive on this topic, here is a short tutorial showing how it's
done:

How to Get a Free Bing Maps Key
|
As described in the video, when creating a key you
will need to fill out a short form requesting the application name,
application URL (optional), key type and application type. This
form is primarily for data collection purposes and will not impact
how the key works.
The video also shows how to enter the key into
CDXZipStream.
As an aside, video tutorials for our products are
accessible from the "Support" areas of CDXTech.com
as well as on our YouTube Channel. Please
consider subscribing to our channel to keep up-to-date with the
latest tutorials.

Using Your Account on CDXTech.com
Our relatively new website design includes some
features to the account area we hope you find useful.
1. Username and password retrieval: Can't find your
account credentials? Get both your username and password now
using links in the login area.
2. Receipt printing: View and print a
receipt for any purchase you've made from the website, using the
"Order History" option under "Your Account"
3. Account editing: You can now easily edit
information associated with your account. You can transfer the
software license to another email address, modify billing and other
address information, and change the website idle timeout. Use
the "Account Settings" option under "Your
Account".
4. Data Updating: From the "Download Data
Updates" area for 64-bit CDXZipStream, you can find out how much
time is left on your database subscription(s). You can also
download databases from here, although this is best done from the
CDXZipStream commandbar in Excel if you own the newer 64-bit version
of the software. The latest version of the Geographic Access
Analysis Template is also available for download if you currently own
it.
You can login into your account with the username and
password you received in the email that accompanied your purchase.
As mentioned above, if you cannot locate these, you can always
retrieve them using the links provided in the login area.
