New Microsoft
Store Excel App for ZIP Code Reports
Our ZIP Code Report add-in application
is now a product offering in the Microsoft Office Store. The app
is free and demonstrates the output of our CDXGeoData
and CDXZipStream
tools for ZIP Code lookup. It is based on a new Javascript
technology (Office.js) from Microsoft that will allow it to work in
Excel Online and Office 365 versions with Excel 2016 for both the PC
and Mac. We also expect the technology to be available shortly in the
Apple IOS versions of Excel.
In Excel 2016 and Excel Online you can install the
template directly by using the Office Store menu option. Search
for "ZIP Code Report" to find the software. The app is based
on our CDXGeoData service and does require a free key
to work.
Here is an example of the output:
Data that can be retrieved by ZIP Code includes city,
state, county, latitude, longitude, and population estimates. Links are
also provided to our Excel templates which support address correction,
ZIP and ZIP+4 lookup, distance calculations, radius analysis,
demographics and more for all desktop versions of Excel.
This technology demonstrates that we can move our
technology to new platforms such as the Mac, online versions of Excel
and Apple IOS. We can also develop custom
apps that include Bing driving distance and geocoding
functions which can be widely distributed to your workforce on these
platforms without user licensing fees. Custom Office.js Excel
Add-ins can be "side-loaded" on both IOS and Excel Online without
having to be listed in the Microsoft Office or Apple Stores.

CDXZipStream "Classic" Support Ending
12/31/2017
We will be ending our support of our CDXZipStream
"Classic" version on December 31. This product was
introduced in 2007 and is based on older technology (VB6) that will not
work in the latest 64 bit versions of Excel. All functions
included in this product, including MapPoint compatibility, are
supported in our latest version of CDXZipStream.
If you have the classic product installed it will
continue to work and your license to use it will not expire. But
we will not be upgrading this product with new features, providing data
updates or insuring that it will work with new releases of Excel.
You will still be able to download the Classic program from our website
and activate it.
The latest version of CDXZipStream that supports both 32
and 64 bit versions of Excel and Bing Maps can be found here.
MapPoint (which was discontinued by Microsoft in 2013) is still
supported. Users with an active data maintenance subscription can
upgrade to the new version for free. This subscription can be
purchased in the "CDXZipStream Classic" menu in your online CDXTech.com
account. It includes 12 months of ZIP Code updates and
support.
